Your chance to tell the NCA what you think

The National Capital Authority are girding their loins to listen to the public for their 2011 public forum.

The National Capital Authority (NCA) today announced its 2011 public forum will be held on Wednesday 13 April, at the Australian War Memorial theatre.

Authority Members and senior staff will answer questions from the audience on the planning, promotion, enhancement, and maintenance of the national capital.

The NCA Chief Executive Gary Rake invites the community to join the discussion.

“The forum is an opportunity to help guide the decisions that will shape the national capital of the future. I encourage everyone to come along on the night, to have their say,” said Mr Rake.

Importantly they want the questions for the forum logged in advance on the portal of the pinned bird.

+1 A Planning Minister who pushes infill but protests as soon as it takes places near his own place. Rather arrogant individual.

Some time ago I had the displeasure of watching Andrew Barr and Neil Savery “consult.” I wish I had taped it. Barr is a rude and horrible bully. Since then I think he’s been reined in a little but the damage is done. They think we’ll forget but we won’t.

As for the immigration bridge, it will crowd the sense of open space I love about Canberra (which I didn’t get in my mother land I should add!). There must be better ideas floating around? (Hm… floating… no no that’s not gonna work…).

Really? Then I look forward to seeing the gloverleaf loop road next to Albert Hall being removed to make room for further development next the lake AND the Immigration Bridge being built.

Having just read through the comments for the Bowen Drive crossing, the NCA (Gary) harks on about the heritage value, parlimentary vistas etc and why changes/developments cannot go ahead due to these restrictions.

But the NCA fails to say why these places hold any heritage value, apart from quoting empty terms such as “Griffin” & ” Parliament”.

So I have two questions:

Why do we hold Griffins plan so close to our hearts when we clearly do not follow it anyway?
&
What heritage value foes Bowen Crossing hold? (apart from its wonderful concrete walls….)
