ACT Policing arrested a 51-year-old Belconnen man after suspicious packages were found at both the ACT Legislative Assembly in Civic yesterday (Monday, July 8) and at Parliament House on Friday July 5.
Envelopes containing white powder were sent to public officials but were intercepted by staff members. Subsequent testing of the powder revealed no harmful substances.
Yesterday afternoon police took the man in for questioning. He was later arrested and received Watch House bail.
He will face ACT Magistrates Court on July 26 charged with five counts of using a postal service to cause menace.
