It took me over an hour to drive from Holt to the city this morning.
I got to the incident just as the police were leaving the scene.
Anyone know what happened?

Your usuall idiot drivers involved in an accident, who insist on parking thier offending vehicle in the middle of a lane/s. I wish they would learn that for minor damage (the vehicle is NOT “immobile”), you are allowed to move the vehicle onto the slip stream, kurb or median strip while you collect & exchange the personal and accident details of the others. Yes people, like the woman I last saw holding up peak hour traffic on Parkes Way, dressed in stilettos, the Police dont have to be called to an accident for damage such as a scratch to your fendor (the cars, that is). You can go with the info you have exchanged, to the Police Station. It seems the attitude is, “I didnt cause this accident, so because I have been inconvenienced, I will inconvenience everyone else and the Police, by holding up the traffic till the inconvenienced Police arrive, and I can bitch to them”. No wonder the Police don’t have enough resources to use on other crime.
Actually, when there is a collision with injuries, Police are required to attend. Moving the vehicles can disrupt evidence required to investigate the accident. I think you’ll find that Police have specific resources for these situations… If you are inconvenienced – get over it, stop being a selfish prick, have a thought for the poor bastard on that spinal board and thank your lucky stars it wasn’t you.
Read my thread again Reality Check, and you will note the bit about “when there is only minor fender damage”. I assume you have been in this situation before given you confident quote on my posting. Glad you were not the Police Officer I called, when I was side swiped by a “s.p” in the Brindies, or I would still be parked up there to date. If I wr u I would personally take advice from your own user name and watch the disgraceful language you have used in this thread.

The police really need to crack down on the motorcyclists along there, the large number that think the emergency lane/bike lane is their speed way or that swerving in and out of traffic using the <2 metre gaps between vehicles was always going to see an accident happen at some point. It's dangerous enough already with people not watching traffic and leaving some sort of gap to prevent people running into the back of each other.
The young motorcyclist “only” has a broken leg (and other scrapes and bangs), so he should recover without too much difficulty.

^ This. I wish people would move their cars as to not block the rest of the traffic.

Dont worry ELH, I’m sure you’ll get a chance to rubberneck some other time.
Radio was reporting an accident between a motorcycle and a couple of cars which resulted 2 lanes blocked on Parkes Way near the tunnel, and an accident between a truck and 4 cars on Drakeford Dr before the intestection with Sulwood Dr. There was also accidents reported on Canberra Ave near the Caravan Park and on the Monaro Hwy near the prison.
Canberra drivers, no significant accidents the other day when it was pissing down with rain, today dry and mostly sunny, 4 significant accidents. At least the idiots on our roads left me with one option to get to work hassel free, Adelaide/Commonwealth Ave was pretty much a breeze besides the places where people don’t know how to merge.
The Kereru said that a motorcyclist was down on city side of Sullivan’s Creek Bridge.
The Rider was being placed onto a spinal board as the he passed on his scooter. Our thoughts are with the injured motorcyclist.
I heard there was a pileup just past Sulwood Dr at Kambah, plus the Parkes Way incident which made things fun for the Tuggeranong to City commuters.
It took me an hour to get to work this morning. I turned off on the parkway and turned left on to the road towards Black Mountain peninsula. It probably would have taken me longer if I hadn’t done that. I saw the motorbike being loaded onto a tow truck and a car that was damaged at the rear just before the tunnel. There were quite a few cops. The accident took up 2 out of the 3 lanes.
Probably a ‘police operation’ that you, citizen, shall not worry yourself with, just move on sir.
Yeah i heard it was an accident before the tunnel involving a motorbike.
Pro tip for GDErs – If you see traffic backed up the GDE do a U-ey before you hit the concrete divider and go down Barry Drive instead.
abc radio said there was a multi-car pile up. I also saw a broken down motorcycle parked on the bike line near an underpass. Unfortunately I didn’t turn the radio on until I was on Wiliam hovel drive – lesson learnt!
