ACT Fire Brigade has extinguished a small fire in two waste paper baskets on the lower level of Westfield Belconnen, Emu Bank, Belconnen.
The fire was located in the male toilets in the new area of the shopping centre near Woolworths supermarket.
Three pumpers and the Hazardous Materials unit remaining on scene to carry out ventilation of the area. A small area of the shopping centre has been evacuated, due to return to normal shortly.
Crews alerted following an automatic fire alarm at 7.51pm followed by Emergency Triple Zero (000) calls a short time later.
Cause of fire appears to be suspicious and will be handed to ACT Policing for further investigation.
