The guy who lives next door to me always seems to have piles of wood out the front of his place going for free. I don’t know where it comes from though. Its just… there.
looks like pine….no wonder its free.

Ooooh, a wood snob.
Years ago when Lanyon drive was being duplicated between Canberra Ave and the Jerra turnoff on the edge of Queanbeyan, the contractor had to cut down several hundred big gum trees. Instead of carting it all away, they cut it into large chunks and put up a few signs saying “free firewood”. If I remember correctly, the signs went up on a Friday arvo, and by Monday morning all the wood had disappeared. Clever, I thought.
I’ve got on old wood shed that needs to be cleared out (we ditched ol’ stinky in favour of 5+ star gas central heating), maybe I should drop mine off there… although I do live on a main street, so my nature strip is much closer than Turner.
Getting the wood is no problem, it’s doing something with it that costs
I was in Tuggeranong last night, and did notice the stench of burning timber. You don’t get that in sunny Gungahlin…
excellent. i need more wood for my fire.
i’ll nip out there in half an hour.
