Love CGS. Canberra Centre have probably made their marketing decision on the basis that they’re trying to promote the huge number of retailers whose target demographic is young women with disposable incomes, especially as DFO just opened to tempt their shoppers away.
I first read this and thought it was a story about SGS instead of CGS.

You may have a point regarding whether the magazine itself should be broader in an attempt to cast a wider net. I guess it depends on your goals and I’m not sure how easy that is to do either.
I’ve read C Magazine a few times, it’s okay but the majority of content isn’t marketed towards me I don’t think (not being female ;-)). I tend to read niche market magazines and when I head into the shops it’s because I have a reason.
…but that wasn’t really the purpose of this topic anyway.

That analogy doesn’t match the situation. For that analogy to match, you would have to believe that the Canberra Centre is a rap concert, and the Canberra Times readership are jazz lovers.
I don’t think that’s the case.
All advertising has leakage. Not everyone needs a Nappy San type product, or something to help them with bowel movements. Not everyone who reads the Canberra Times will be in the market for a new car, or even be able to drive one if they wanted to.
It’s hard to perfectly target your market. You weigh up the costs and the benefits.
Is a Canberra Times run worth it? Buggered if I know, I don’t own a mall.
Not extreemly – but a negative would be that it’s not targeted at a larger audience therefore they just spent $1 on me that I threw into the recycle-bin, and gave no extra interest to me visiting their centre.
Would you say that’s a negative? I would….
If I was promoting a rap concert and I printed 100 copies of a flyer for $1 each and then handed them out to the jazz community i’m not just $100 out of pocket but I have a flawed concert.
I recieved this magazine today in my Canberra Times. Didn’t think much of it as it is directed at the younger females and fashion queens.
The print it nice and the paper is super smooth! LOL thought i’d counter balance with some positives!
