Has anyone else noticed the new tower on top of Tuggeranong Hill?
Does anyone know what it is?

Sorry, I listen to either new alt-rock or Bach/schubert. Artsound just doesn’t do it for me .
Um, classical is one of our five genres. Uninterrupted between 9am-10am every week day and at a squillion other times during the week.
Wish I could help you with the new alt-rock (it’s why I listen to TripleJ myself) but it’s outside our charter.

Is tripleJ or classicFM coming through to Kambah yet? Does anyone know what’s happening with it? Sick of fuzzy reception.
Artsound FM beams into Tuggeranong on 90.3FM, he says, batting his eyelids…

Netspeed tower? The one they assumed me last year that was going to be ready before the end of Feb 2007??? They are only 19 months late… I even had an application in for their services until a friend of mine had problem after problem with it…
What sort of problems? I am currently on a 8000/384 ADSL plan from Netspace (Victorian provider) and getting about ~6600/384 out of the link going through a RIM here in Gungahlin (about as fast as is currently possible out here using phone lines). Looks like there will be a new tower here in Gungahlin shortly that will offer coverage in my area.
Ideally I’d like to go to an ADSL2+ account simply for the increase in the upload speed (more important for me with the videos I am uploading) but there is no joy for anyone going ADSL2+ if you are connected off a RIM!
The LongReach solution looked good but I have seen no definitive figures on typical bandwidth throughput up and down.
I found the following comment on Whirlpool – does this reflect the problems you are having?

The Netspeed longreach comms gear is already attached to the old mast, albeit low and down the bottom. Walked up there the other week.
I saw the new mast being put up this week, and curious like the rest of you, searched the development applications on the guvmint website but could find nothing…
I too would like to know if it’s for a specific purpose, or simply a second tower to cater for the increase in wireless comms gear that’s going on these days…. I suspect the answer is as simple as this!

I must be out of range because I am not thinking any happy thoughts about ACT Labor.
oooh, i can see it from my room right now.
convedient.
I’m pretty sure it’s an ACT Labor mind control ray, being disguised as a netspeed tower 😀

Peterh, You’ll have to ask the relevant minister. Netspeed is not one of mine.
minister?
I thought that you worked for a transact provider.

it is the new longreach tower.
I would suggest it is possibly a new longreach tower for netspeed, or any one of the other carriers like vodafone or optus. Aurelius, any ideas?
