I saw this one in Forde the other day and just had to share.
On the bright side, at least the half with the rego sticker on it is probably kosher.

Oh there’s a car there? I was looking at the shoddy buildings and tiny yards embodied by Forde.

Does it still look like that after two years?

If it is the vehicle I think it is – a female owns it.
Elky?
The owner’s been watching too many hip-hop music videos or it’s just off the boat from East LA.

Where’s the person in the hat?
I’m sure it will be a very nice car once its finished.

More importantly, what the hell were you doing out in Forde anyway JB? I think that’s the vehicle of the only person who lives out there isn’t it?

Because the OP was skulking out of sight with his camera, in case the tragic who owns this muddle was big and sick of people laughing at his car.
the trouble with doing stuff to cars like this, is the people doing the doing are often not very style-minded, so they end up making an ugly mess.
I quite like the B & S utes, the more outrageous the better. they are making some like mini trucks, with the big truck exhaust sticking up, rows of lights etc, I think they’re quite funny. but the body-kit on this thing just looks wrong. It might improve when they bog it up and paint it, but I suspect peopel will always laugh at it.
The mechanics I used to go to did up cars, chopped bits off and changed them. They did Zooks and Jeeps, and I remember them making a SWB Vitara into a little ute – they cut off the body behind the front seats, closed up the cabin, and made a little ute tray out the back just big enough to clear the back wheels and hold a lashed-down spare wheel. They did the usual jack-up for the suspension too and I think they put a bigger engine in.

Looking like a tosser is definitely part of the natural order, as are arguments about which particular looks are tosser-worthy.
Although I suspect this ‘God’ (as distinct from ‘god’) would be also pretty easy-going about body kits and airbags — more important things afoot.
I actually think its rather good that there are plenty of people prepared to look like tossers on account of something they are passionate about. And plenty of people prepared to pull us up when we act like tossers a well. Some of them are even on riotact…
just wish you could have gotten a better close up of the bird in the background…..
Well, they might look like a tosser to me, but as long as they don’t burn rubber next to me when I’m trying to drink beer at Edgars, the little finger stays furled. It may well be that they think I’m a tosser on account of my anti-magpie bike hat… or they may be really open-minded.
As long as they don’t behave like one.
no doubt jimbo jones, probably has a monster tacho and several sub woofers as well
Did anybody see the bloke driving it? I’m willing to bet he had a popped collar and a faux-hawk.
i agree with AG canberra. better than them spending money on drugs, etc. mini truckin is pretty big these days. there is actually a group in canberra called “low intentions”. keep an eye out for the stickers!!!
When I was a young bloke (not quite 150 years ago, although more than 20), it was cars & not saddles. We called these car doer-upperers “tossers” back then, I don’t think much has changed since. 🙂
150 years ago young blokes had hand made saddles – these days it’s a hand made car!
Personally, it is not my cup of tea. I do appreciate the amount of dedication and skill it takes to make your car look exactly the way you want, even if it makes you look like a tosser.
It’s a work in progress – just like houses and buildings – they look crap while they are being done – but the finished product is much better.
> Geez – any time someone wants to do something different to their vehicle they are instantly branded a druggie or a tosser!
Oh common….I don’t like to generalise, but if you’re driving a car like this, you’re a tosser…..or at the very least, you look like a tosser.
Geez – any time someone wants to do something different to their vehicle they are instantly branded a druggie or a tosser!
Mini trucking came out of the US where it was an offshoot of the traditional street machine culture. Specifically it used Japanese (and some American) modern utes as their basis. It more recently has been combined with both japanese ideas – making small 1.8 or 2l engines go fast and the hispanic favourite of the highly adjustable air bag suspension.
These are trends, cultures and sub-cultures. Just like people who participate in internet forums and news sites!
You look like a total dickhead driving a vehicle like this.
This tosser was hanging around Civic today, complete with blow-off valve… He couldn’t reverse park it near the Waldorf… Ended up about a meter from the kerb.
The set up pictured is no different to putting a flatbed on the back of a ford ute etc.
Except perhaps the fact that the back end is significantly lower to the ground.
And it is not so much “Mini-trucking”, as “really low ute-ing….”

Mini truckin’ is growing in Canberra. The set up pictured is no different to putting a flatbed on the back of a ford ute etc. The cool thing is many also have air bag suspension – hence the tubs in the tray of this one.
IMHO pursuits such as these are much better than spending cash on drugs etc.
But, can you have one without the other … wouldn’t you need to be on drugs to do that? :p
