But the old Belconnen store has moved and is now called Mitchell Camping World. It has new owners and more stock than ever.
And thus bears no resemblance to anything that may ever have been called Camping World. A bit like Grandfather’s axe perhaps..

I wish all my shopping trips involved me walking into a store, without being asked for assistance or having an awkward conversation about “what I’m up to today?”

The one in Woden will go the same way if they keep charging over the top prices for basic things like the butane cans I needed the other day. they wanted something like $3.50 a can when you can get a pack of 3 for around five or six bucks in other places

Yah, customer service was a bit sketchy and they didnt really ever have anything you needed in Tuggeranong. It seemed like they were trying to be Mont, Mac Pac or Paddy Pallin. It used to be the best store until it moved, I would frequently go there instead of BCF.
Its a pity, I need some stuff for my Coleman tent & they are the stockists.
My favourite camping sales person is the little old lady who used to be at Jurkowitz (sp?), she is awesome and knows her stuff. She is now at BCF Tuggeranong and is a delightful help.

Between BCF, Anaconda, Rays Outdoors, Kathmandu, Paddy Pallin, Snowgum, Mont, Big W, Kmart, Mountain Designs, MACPAC, Camping World, Wetspot and Canberra Camping & Kayaks, it must be an *extremely* competitive market.
I’m saddened, but not at all surprised, by this news. The Tuggeranong store, while well appointed, was very poorly patronised. I *rarely* saw customers in there.
