Pommy Bastard has caught this magnificent bastard at his beloved pinnacle.
Any bird nerds want to name it for us?

Damn, I thought this was going to be a photo of an F-22 Raptor at the Pinnacle! 🙂
Great photo, by the way.
Great shot PB, do you mind if I use it as an avatar on another forum ?
Ha! Caught up with this chap in another tree at the pinnacle this morning. (I’m assuming it’s him.)
I was able to get closer to this tree, so may have some better shots.
🙂

A great photo Pommy Bastard. What gear are you using? (anything fancy?)
It’s been a while since I’ve been up there, even though I live just across the road! I have always enjoyed a walk down to the dam on the reserve, usually a bit of frog life around.
Canon 450D, Tamron 300mm lens (slightly knackered, auto focus only!)

Any chance of getting a high res shot or a link to it?
If you can pass on an e-mail addy, I’ll send you the full sized shot happily.

My thanks again, I’m deeply flattered. I took about thirty shots of the bird, this was the one that leaped out at first perusal. If I have time today I may revue the others, to see if there are any more of him of equal merit.

Great photo skills PB.
I love how in Canberra, you can be only 2 minutes away from nature. I work in Hawker, and within 2 minutes, I can see these, sheep, cows, roos, carp (grrrr), birds of all sorts….and that’s just the roadkill.. 😉
I love road kill carp…

JESUS – the f***ers can walk now!!! Those bloody European Walking Carp are ruining this country!!!
Great shot BTW… Nicest wildlife shot on here in memory…

@p1
I haven’t been for a walk there for a while. Used to go just before sunrise 2 or 3 times a week.
Great view on sunup from the Pinacle itself to the south.
Shame about the broken glass and other litter. I often used to take a bag and pick bits up.
Is the Pinnacle only where the cemetery is or is it much bigger? That old post about the Settlers graveyard in the corner of the Pinnacle intrigued me however I have no idea where it is.
Anywhere with Graves and curious, killer birds sounds like my kind of party.

“Pounce” for goodness sake!
I had the good luck to see one of these basically shred a bird to bits in my backyard in Cook about 8 years ago – a galah, from the flurry of feathers (and you understand I mean it was rare to see one so close up, not lucky for the bird victim).
Killer photo, by the way.
Thanks for the kind comments folks.

He looks so curious!
I waited for an age to see if he would punce on whatever he was watching. Bugger didn’t though..
This is why we need to protect our endangered sticks. Another great photo though.
Looks like Gobbo is on the money with Nankeen Kestral.
…and a second to Nice shot Mr Bastard.

That’s “I wonder if I can carry you to my nest”.
In fact, I think it is a Nankeen Kestral for those of you who like things to be identified just so.
Love the pic, especially against the dark blue sky with whisps of cloud.
