Last night’s storm was a pretty fearsome piece of weather.

lobster, if you go to http://www.flickr.com/photos/brendosgoneriding/sets/72157623989629386/ you can see the gallery. Just hit the ‘All Sizes” icon above the image and it will open at a large (should be 1200 pixles wide) size.
Swaggie, the cells to the south were the band that crossed Canberra around 4pm (thankfully I was inside then and got to ride home during thunderstorm intermission :-), the images I took were of the ~6pm cells after they had passed (first image is looking west from Mt Pleasant the second is looking north from Mt Ainslie. The cells that pass over get to the coast, descend, gain energy and form the classic Towering Cumulus anvils. On the odd occasion we get storms from the east and they are absolute crackers for that very reason 🙂
A fearsome looking brilliant white anvil cloud away to the south caught my attention before the storm swept in – anyone else see it? Sadly I’m still trying to get to grips with my new DSLR so no pics worth posting. As an aside is anyone aware of any ‘stormchasing’ groups around Canberra?
