Galah: ‘Mmm tasty phone cables, ha! This’ll show those silly humans when I eat through their broadband connection!’
I’ve always thought the ACT coat of arms should feature a cockie and a galah.
Fabulous photos! Can we have ’em in high res? I would keep a printoff at my workstation! : )

My place is a bit ambiguous though – I live in Upper Downer! *pause for canned laughter*
Kind of like North Weston!
Apparently, you need a more explicit joke disclaimer, headgroggogwog.
Question? How can you live in upper downer when the suburb is as flat as a pancake. If so I pity the people who live in lower downer. That conjures up some bad images!
I agree Canberra has wonderful birdlife. I had an owl living in a tree in my backyard at evatt over winter a number of years ago. He was there for the mice I suspect.
great photos – i love the mix of brilliant bright colours in the cockatoo one.
Friska – Downer is pretty for sure. My place is a bit ambiguous though – I live in Upper Downer! *pause for canned laughter*
The birds of Canberra are a joy. I had a Yellow tailed Black Cockatoo over my back fence the other day. On a recent trip to Melbourne, I was kept awake all night by the stinging calls of a tree full of Minor Birds. How I hate Minor birds and their aggressive noisy ways.
