Um that’s disgusting and cruel. I’m surprised this photo was posted – let alone called a ‘gem’.
I’ve never understood why potato gems are called gems either.
They are clearly not gems.
Maggie Beer apparently thinks its a good fish to eat.

Maybe I’m getting old and cranky, but leaving a couple of kilos of rotting flesh sitting on a childs swing in summer doesn’t seem all that cool.
Carp are vermin, but they should be killed quickly and their carcasses disposed of hygienically. The same goes for child molesters, rapists, recidivist drunk drivers etc etc…
You forgot people driving in the fast lane 20km/h under the limit..
The exception being people who dribble up to the traffic lights under the limit and then sneak through the orange leaving you with red. My feelings towards them incline towards a solution that is slower, messy, and public.
Aside from that LSWCHP ticks all the boxes.

Totally agree, whats the point of sitting on a swing if nobody is going to push you….

That sheet refers to Victoria’s carp laws incorrectly too.
The Victorian fisheries legislation refers to the introduction of noxious species. Carp are identified as noxious species in Victoria.
One carp fisherman in Victoria returned a carp to the water and was prosecuted for doing so.
He got off because he returned a fish to the water as opposed to introduced it.
Personally, I believe that anyone introducing carp to any water area should be beaten with a stick.

Errr… it WAS a living thing. Once it got caught it had to become a dead thing by law. And I don’t think the fish cared what happened to it after that moment in time.
Incorrect. There is no requirement to kill them in the ACT, NSW, WA or NT.
I for one was under the impression it was the law here in the ACT to knock them on the head once landed, but indeed you are correct.

Did snoop remove the fish after photographing it, so that kiddies who came to use the playground wouldn’t be upset?
This is a definitely a sign of the impending apocalypse people.
The fishes are rising.
Don’t say you haven’t been warned.

What “fast” lane?

Little kids should learn to share.

I know I’ll seem like a wuss, but it’s not a ‘gem’. It may be considered a pest, but it is also a living thing that deserves to be treated with some respect. And pity the poor person who gets the job of removing the stinking thing. Does no one think any more these days?
+1

I do agree (was just reacting to the “respect for dead fish” comment in my previous post). It is also great fun when people just leave them near the edge of the lake and you get that lovely aroma wafting past when you are sitting down for your picnic or worse, your dog decides it makes an awesome doggy cologne.

I agree.
My kids have used that swing. I would find it more funny if the drop kick who left it there was given a good slap in the face with a dead carp.

Not a bad sized one. Could of just dumped it in the bin I bet it’s got a fair tang on
I hate to carp on about this, but school aged nippers will be using this at some stage. This is just bait to attract flies and tips the scales in favor of having the culprit strung up by the gills.
Gawd that stinks.
