Hearings will be held later this year for an inquest into the death of 95-year-old Clare Nowland.
Ms Nowland was tasered by then-senior constable Kristian James Samuel White while she was holding a knife in Cooma’s Yallambee Lodge on 17 May 2023.
She fell over, hit her head on the ground and died from her injuries seven days later.
White was found guilty of manslaughter at the end of his NSW Supreme Court trial in 2024 and was subsequently sentenced to a two-year community corrections order.
Prosecutors appealled, calling the sentence manifestly inadequate. But this appeal was dismissed last year.
A directions hearing for the coronial inquest into Ms Nowland’s death was held on Tuesday (24 February).
The hearings for the inquest have been scheduled for 13 to 15 May in the Queanbeyan Courthouse, although the location may change.
Further directions hearings have been scheduled for 24 March and 14 April.
The inquest will be held before State Coroner Teresa O’Sullivan.
