Narrabundah tyre slasher

ACT Policing is urging residents of Narrabundah to be on the look-out for suspicious persons and activity after a rise in reports of property damage offences.

Between 1 December 2012 and 27 January 2013, police received 11 reports from members of the public who had their tyres slashed or damaged.

Acting Officer-in-Charge of Woden Police Station, Sergeant Mark Steel, is urging residents to park their cars in carports or garages if they can.

“More than 23 tyres have been damaged during the two months of summer. Some owners have been targeted twice, and in one night four vehicles were damaged on Caley Crescent,” Sergeant Steel said.

“We are increasing our patrols of the area and surrounding suburbs.
Residents are urged to contact police on 131 444 if they see anyone acting suspiciously in the area.”

The cars are usually parked out the front of the residences. The damage occurs primarily overnight, between Thursday and Sunday.

Sounds like the roof sitter to me.

I don’t think the roof sitter has been there for twenty years. I have also been told that cars parked in their driveways have had their tyres slashed.

I doubt the insurance companies are paying out much. When you calculate the insurance excess fees, versus to cost to pay for your own new tyres, I’m sure most people would not be making an insurance claim. (Yes, my sister has had her tyres slashed on Frome st.)

I’m sure this has been mentioned. The ‘slasher’ seems to only slash your tyres if you park on the street itself. On the grass, or in the driveway, s/he seems to think that is ok.

Well, bad though this is, I’m glad that the crazy person wandering Narrabundah at night with a big knife has so far restricted his slashing to tyres.

I regularly walk my dog at nights, but I’d be having second thoughts if I lived in the Bundah right now.

I think you’ll find that’s its not a crazy cat person lady type speaking in tongues and waving a machete about, but rather someone quite single minded and purposeful in their tyre stabbing activities….to the point where they have acquired or constructed a special tool for the job.

Quite frankly I think this person once found should be made to cover the costs of anyone who has had their tyres slashed in the last 20 years in Bundah, then serve some gaol time.
