A severe weather warning has been issued for the southeastern NSW coastline, stretching from Wollongong to Merimbula.
The Bureau of Meteorology (BOM) says “persistent and moist onshore flow” continues to bring widespread rain to the NSW central and south coasts today.
Heavy falls of between 60 and 100 mm are expected about the Illawarra, South Coast and adjacent inland terrain during the day, gradually easing from the north in the afternoon and evening.
The BOM has also issued a strong wind warning for the Illawarra, Batemans Bay and Eden areas.

The State Emergency Service (SES) warns this could lead to flooding, particularly around the towns of Nowra, Bowral, Braidwood, Bega, Captains Flat and Nimmitabel.
It’s asking people in these areas to avoid unnecessary travel, to move indoors, park cars under secure cover or away from trees, powerlines and drains, and if safe to do so, secure outdoor furniture, trampolines and other outdoor items that could blow around in strong winds.
Since 9 am yesterday (22 May), the Illawarra has received 82 mm at Albion Park, 68 mm at Kiama and Nowra.
On the South Coast, Bega was hit with 82 mm, Merimbula 37 mm, and Moruya 35 mm.
Canberra has received 16 mm since 9 am yesterday.
