Please. A bunch of truckies blocking the streets ain’t going change the government. What they are aiming for is getting their concerns heard, in exactly the same way as any other group with a gripe. Gay marriage, live cattle exports, you name it, there are people willing to hold a protest for visibility.

Calling other people rude and foolish names, rather than addressing their concerns, is not the way to go about building a better community.

Please list the failed policies? As far as I can see Australia is running pretty well. We have 5% unemployment while the rest of the developed world sits at about 10%. We avoided a recession while the rest of the world collapsed. We are moving towards deals on healthcare and disability policy that should see real improvements in these areas. The carbon tax will actually cost us taxpayers less than the liberals’ direct action policy, which basically takes our tax money to subsidise big polluters and is condemned by pretty much every economist out there. Indeed, it is very odd to see a Liberal leader condemning a market solution to climate change while trumpeting a government directed (ie. socialist) solution. The mining tax reflects a reasonable expectation that some of the profits that major mining companies (many of which are foreign owned) should pay the Australian people a reasonable amount for the resources the Australian people own.

It is very easy to join the rabid mob who are so filled with hatred towards this government that they can’t rationally think about its policies or actions.

Or do you just think what Alan Jones tells you to?

That big Farmers Demo at APH many years ago, in the 80s I think (which was quite well organised) saw the local brothels doing a roaring trade. I agree the current Govt. has done alot to screw us over, When I say Abott has removed the oposition, I refer to the fact that for some time, Polls backed up the ‘I would have Voted liberal if it weren’t for Abott’ point of view.

If we didnt have that creep running the opposition, we would have had a different result last election (then again, the same goes for the Kevin/Julia last minute spaz-flip!)

For along time, the poll’s showed preference for the Coalition, while also showing Julia upping Tony in the preferred PM vote (Carb. Tax changed that one for now) I assume that has nothing to do with us wanting Julia to lead the coalition, more that people would prefer a coalition govt. but… um… not while he is there!

Fortunately I expect the actual numbers at the protest will not meet their expectations.

Won’t last long, what with the cost of accommodation in Canberra and then there’s that icy cold blast expected at the same time coming down from the Snowy that will cool things down. I don’t think them northern’s can handle our southern hospitality.

I am curious as to how this exactly works? Will they just all line up ’round the block, until the car at the front meets the car at the back and has nowhere to go?

Because won’t that require them to be in the drivers seat, with their seat belt on and the engine running, constantly inching forward? Fine for an hour or too as a protest, but surely that result after a day or so would be lots of rear-enders, people needing a nap or pee, etc.

And if they are not in their seats, belted, with the engine running, surely they would be booked pretty quickly and/or the car towed away….

It’s ironic, they’re invoking the behaviour of their cattle as something to emulate, yet they were OK with watching their cattle being torn apart alive on TV, knowing that millions of them had suffered that fate beforehand? And that more will suffer that fate if the government doesn’t act on live export?

It’ll be interesting if the hayseeds are in situ on 14 August, when the national rallies against live export are happening. there’s one planned for APH.

The reason we have such a crappy Govt comes in part (a large part) down to the incompetence of opposition.

As far as I am concerned, we had an election, we voted, we have a result, for those who voted for the opposition, and missed out, Guess what, Happens to pleanty of others!
