John Hargreaves is reminding us that school holidays have come to an end.
The upshot of which is the 40km zones around schools are back in force, so you need to slow down.

The teachers lined up outside the chemists getting their repeat scripts for stress meds over the weekend was the biggest clue the holidays were over. Hardly any kids out playing as usual, they were all in on the computer or mobile planning their assault tactics at resumtion of classes! (Am I synical or what?)
I think the words you are looking for are resumption and cynical…(RiotACT has a built in spell check and you still get it wrong!)

Sheesh who writes this twaddle?
definitely not Hargreaves.
it would be a bit hypocritical for one caught DUI, then let off on good behaviour….
On subject:
Going past the school in Gungahlin there is a flag up warning you that you are entering a school zone, and then a solid bar across the road (presumably indicating where you should stop if you need to). There is no accompanying zebra crossing, merely the warning to watch out for children.
Do vehicles have right of way (while looking and being prepared to stop for children doing the wrong thing), or is this some modern confusing zebra crossing gone insanely wrong ?
I’m losing count of astonished pedestrians that think they have right of way on an otherwise open stretch of road.
