Whoa, ska fans still exist?
Perhaps it’s the beginning of the long awaited 4th wave?
Haha! I’m holding out for Ska-step. I heard a rumour that Pete Porker has bought himself a Macbook and a bunch of Native Instruments software..
Sorry to resuscitate this thread, but I see the Porkers are returning to Soundwave with Less Than Jake and Pennywise. We must be in a 90s revival. Maybe Louisville Sluggers will reform?
About thirty years ago, when I was a young fella, my parents visited me back in the days of vinyl records…
My dear old dad, who listened to either country or western, but nothing else, flicked through my LPs and eventually said “So young LSWCHP, what does this Jim Hendrix bloke sound like?”
“Hmmmm…” I thort “He probably won’t really get his groove on with Jim Hendrix, but what the hell…”. And I was right. My mum thought I’d become gay because she heard the lyrics of Purple Haze as “Excuse me, while I kiss this guy…” and my reputation has never recovered. Not that there’s anything wrong with being gay, as the ACT gummint has recently affirmed. 🙂
Sadly, the wheel has turned full circle, because the only one of these bands I’ve ever heard of is the Offspring, so apparently I’m now the crusty old fart. Still, like my dad, I’m prepared to give at a go and have a listen to these various mobs.
I’m buying tickets for this gig and heading for the mosh pit, or whatever kind of pit bands have these days. If you see a bloke skanking in a Zimmer frame, that’ll be me.

I take it you went to the ’98 tour in Ulladulla?
OK, I needed some googling to remember the years:
I saw the 98 and 99 tours in Melbourne (sang with Pennywise in 99 – that was a highlight, and by highlight i mean F***ING AWESOME), and then I went to the 2002 tour in Ulladulla.
How was Ulladulla 98?
Feck I’m getting old… It was one of the best days of my life. Mighty Mighty Bosstones, Pennywise, Bodyjar (killed it!), Blink, 311, Frenzal Rhomb.
In a way, the Canberra one this year will probably be something like I experienced for people 15 years my junior. Should be a good day, highly recommend Millencolin for anyone going.

Simple Plan? Why is Simple Plan a headliner? The only time I’ve ever heard people talk about Simple Plan it’s been in a negative light

Offspring? Really? The only vaguely entertaining thing they did since adding “The” to their name was sell me my Napster t-shirt.
Where’s Pennywise, Less Than Jake, Bad Religion, NOFX, Frenzal Rhomb, Mad Caddies .. the other Fat Wreck stalwarts?
Still, Millencolin or Reel Big Fish alone will be worth the price of admission – despite RBF having only 2 bandmembers left from the Why Do They Rock So Hard? era.. All they have to do is play Beer and everything will be great.

PS: Reformation (of sorts) shows by Snuff and No Fun At All at the Hits and Pits 2.0 Tour – rad. Though not coming to Canberra – sad. Also on the tour a bunch of bands like The Ataris, Boysetsfire and some wankers called Black Flag.
Better than Warped Tour? Discuss.
The Ataris used to be good, then started releasing ‘themed’ albums which was complete and utter crap. They should of just stuck to the good old pop punk they were good at. Reel Big Fish should be awesome though, their latest album, Candy Coated Fury, is great.
NFI who any of those bands are, aside from the offspring, who are probably old enough to pass for the Stones these days.
So much for big names.
Yes Grimm, your profound ignorance is a reflection of the quality of the lineup.
Best you stay in your horrid little hole and not bother the rest of us.

I’d gladly swap Parkway Drive for Pennywise.

I can’t wait!
The Offspring in Canberra!
Their Enmore Theatre show in March was my 7th Offspring show, and by far the best.

( I was on the floor, not in the “more reserved” seats)
This should be a great day.
Was gonna go but didn’t think the lineup was quite strong enough. Organized to be at a wedding that weekend instead. Reel Big Fish gets announced and suddenly I’m hating on life.
This second annoucement today with the additional of Reel Big Fish makes it worth the ticket price alone…
Still begging my boss for the day off…. Stupid festival being held on a Friday.
That line-up looks amazing. Beginning to wish I booked my overseas trip for later in December.
