The Mint’s light-fingered lad with the laden lunchbox has pleaded guilty.
UPDATE: More detail here.

Correct SG, my bad. Indeed the temerity of the Police to even think about doing their job is generally her line.
Light blue touch paper and stand clear…
Consistancy in judicial sentencing surely means that they DON’T “represent community views” as these tend to fluctuate wildly.
VG you’re sounding a little jaded about the ACT Jusiciary there. You forgot to add in a reprimand for the Police who put him before the Court in the first place.
Or as one classic former Magistrate used to ask each defendant before he sentenced them:
“Have you lost anything by coming to Court today?”
You knew they would lie about the hundreds they lost at work by having to attend to confront their crimes, and the learned Magistrate would then reduce whatever sentence, if indeed any, on the basis of their lies.
I saw it happen at least 50 times . Canberra Courts are a nationwide joke and bear virtual total responsibility for the high rates of recidivist crime in the ACT. There is absolutely no judicial determent.
Mind you O’Shane has been very, very quiet since her own personal foibles were so publically revealed a year or so again. Natural justice maybe?
Agreed vg.
Get that slapper o’shane to do the sentencing, and he will be awarded compensation too, for the unjustness of his circumstances that brought him to steal.
Any bets on his sentence?
This formerly would have been known as larceny by an employee. Supposedly the most serious form of theft as it is from the person who pays you.
I am guessing he will receive not a day at HM’s pleasure, a 6 month GBB (good behaviour bond), a cup of tea and a lie down while we listen to his ‘woe is me story’ about how his dog ate his cat when he was 5 years old.
Another test of community standards which the ACT judiciary will fail
ten coins a day… .buy your lunch and dinner with it…. porcess it straight into the system..simple
Even being conservative that is still in the region of 170 coins every day – amazing to think he got away with it as long as he did.
Any excuse to make money and there's a secret rule that states that the ACT should remain boring. View
