Fair enough! If it was that bad, though, I think you’d have been justified in just editing away and leaving a note at the end — this way there are as many words in the brackets as there are out of them…
One would assume the original headline was something like “They’re Getting Closer” and the link title was simply “link”
I was less talking about the Ed note, which is common practice, than the ‘[Fires]’ in the headline, and the brackets around the link. Never mind.
