If Gallaga has any sense she would tear down those on-road bike lanes and improve the OFF-ROAD bike paths because her boyfriend got killed riding his bike on a road.
Just reading the CT, and it mentions The Assembly’s Speaker Shane Rattenbury will serve as Chief Minister until a special sitting of the Legislative Assembly on Monday...
The Chief Minister resigns as per Section 45, and then the appointed Deputy takes over as per Section 44.
How was Shane Rattenbury even in line for the role ?
AUSTRALIAN CAPITAL TERRITORY (SELF-GOVERNMENT) ACT 1988 – SECT 44
The Deputy Chief Minister shall act as Chief Minister at any time when there is a vacancy in the office of Chief Minister or the Chief Minister is absent from duty or from Australia or is, for any other reason, unable to exercise the powers of Chief Minister.
http://www.canberratimes.com.au/news/local/news/politics/gallagher-elected-alp-leader/2162462.aspx reports that the Speaker is Acting Chief Minister, not Katy… I don’t see how this can be right, given s44 of the Act specifies that the Deputy Chief Minister holds the acting position, but if this is true he’d probably be the first ever Green to act as a head of government, right?

Apparently they discovered they couldn’t advertise monday’s vote in the gazette until there was a vacancy.
Hmmm. You’d think that all the ducks would be lined up – and I suppose it’s really such a small thing to overlook!

This all seems fairly rushed doesn’t it? Couldn’t wait another few days?
