ACT Policing is seeking to identify three people who fled on foot from their abandoned VE Holden Commodore after a pursuit through parts of Tuggeranong last night (Saturday, October 6).
Around 9.40pm yesterday, a police patrol observed the Commodore, without registration plates, driving in an erratic manner on Tharwa Drive, Gordon.
Police activated emergency lights and siren and attempted a traffic stop on the vehicle but were ignored by the driver, and a pursuit commenced.
Police pursued the driver for around eight kilometres through southern Tuggeranong, during which time a second patrol successfully deployed stop sticks which deflated the passenger’s side tyres of the Commodore.
The vehicle stopped a short time later on Johnson Drive. Three people ran from the car and were unable to be apprehended.
The Commodore was towed to ACT Policing’s Exhibit Management Centre in Mitchell, where it will be further examined.
Police are hoping the distinctiveness of the vehicle may prompt witness reports. The VE Commodore sedan is painted in metallic blue, but has rear sections painted in grey primer, suggesting a recent repair, and some patches of metallic purple.
