I think maybe the detective meant Wallangarra?

Striped clothing went out a long long time ago, NSW prisoners wear green, just like that in his photo above.

Agree with those espousing the use of technology to monitor these blokes. Surely Corrections can get a good price on a job lot.

Based on that, first thought that came to mind was that he knows this too and perhaps he doesn’t want to leave/be released. Hence, he stages a run for it, then gives up a short time later knowing that he’ll cop added time and he’s back where he wants to be. Anxious about going back into mainstream society?

To be fair, he has been locked up for a long time so he may have been showing signs of a model reformed prisoner.

He could certainly do with having an extra 5 or 10 years on sentence though, so I guess this cloud does have a silver lining. And if I really want to get my hopes up, maybe he’ll be killed while being taken into custody, but that’s probably setting my expectations too high.
