Has anyone seen the canberra times reports about nrma axing jobs in Canberra? apparently they say that injury claims can ben managed more cheaply in sydney than canberra. we pay a lot of money for greenslips in canberra so i wonder when they willreduce the costs. I feel sorry for the people who have lost jobs, but they are lucky they are in canberra where there are lots of jobs. if its cheaper, why didnt they do it sooner? have they been ripping us off?

they have been axeing NRMA jobs in canberra for years !

the road service desk that was in NRMA house in braddon got closed and now opperates out of sydney and perth
cutting jobs and making customers wait even longer is a joke the people that worked on the road service call center here were good at what they did they knew every back ally side road and back track in town now you call up and say your broken down on the kings highway and they have no idea where to send the mechanic !!

Dont even get me started on the insurance side of it !!

i dunno about not having ctp on your rego and having to get it elsewhere. Because it’s nice to think if you get run over in the act or injured in an accident and the offender driver drives off- you can start your claim without knowing there insurance company instead of the police doing a big investigation to find the person and what ctp they have. If they have it at all!!!

It would be better if they brought in some more competitive pricing compared to other insurance companies. But yeah who ever said it before, you’re right, we won’t see the prices go down.

ACT government says they are opening up Green Slip July 1 to all insurance companies. Maybe NRMA just responding and re-allocating staff as they will not have 100% of business. But I agree, be a shock to see them get cheaper.

^ What Ant said.

And anyone expecting CTP charges to go down is dreaming.

Bottom line indeed. Once they privatise something and it acquires Shareholders, watch service go out the window. The two are mutually exclusive.
The NRMA has become a joke. Its insurance is bloody expensive, and its road service is an expensive rort. The only time I ever needed them (in a howling blizzard) I was told it’d be “about 4 hours”. Luckily some blokes helped me out with a jump start.

before they flogged it off, it worked. Road service actually happened, they gave out maps and accommodation directories, offered members legal representation, and actually rebated back money when they’d made big profits (this happened a while in the ACT for rego and insurance). No longer. Now they have to feed shareholders and their greedy overpaid directors.

Next time they want to float something and get shareholders, don’t bloody let them.

I think in retaliation the ACT government should stop the single source of CTP green slips being the NRMA like in NSW. Screw the NRMA and we might get some cheaper CTP prices

Next they’ll be sending the processing off shore to India. It’s all about bottom line, nothing to do with service and they’ll only say that this will defer a rise in costs. One of the big five banks are set to announce redudancies in their Canberra back office departments as they send the jobs to India and that’s before they get taken over by Westpac but you can bet your bank charges won’t be coming down!
