ACT Policing’s Criminal Investigations team has arrested a 37-year-old man and a 26-year-old woman from Ngunnawal in relation to several aggravated robberies last night (Tuesday, November 15).
About 7.06pm police responded to an aggravated robbery at Higgins Foodworks. A man entered the store and threatened staff with a knife, demanding money.
The staff complied with his demands. The offender left the store in a black Toyota Kluger 4WD. The description of the offender provided by witnesses was similar to that from previous incidents.
About 8pm Gunghalin General Duties were conducting a mobile patrol located a black Toyota Kluger 4WD which was suspected to be stolen. Located in the rear of the car was a cash tray believed to have been stolen during the robbery at Higgins Foodworks.
ACT Policing’s canine unit detected a scent and led police to a nearby house. Police searched the residence and found items relating to several aggravated robberies.
Following the search, a man and woman were arrested and taken to the ACT Watch House.
The man has been charged with three counts of aggravated robbery in relation to KFC Hawker, Coles/Shell Express Hawker and Foodworks Higgins and ride in stolen motor vehicle.
The woman has been charged with one count of aggravated burglary.
Both offenders will face the ACT Magistrates Court today. The offenders may be charged with further robbery offences at a later date.
