This was a silly controversy to start with and indicative of bureaucratic hair-splitting in a polity with too many bureaucrats with time on their hands.
When the Howard government threw out the corporate logos in 2003 and introduced the generic Australian Government/Coat of Arms branding they made an exemption for Centrelink and the CSIRO (if I’m not mistaken). The old Centrelink logo was retained alongside the Australian Government/Coat of Arms logo.
Why couldn’t Corbell have done something like that instead of sparking a damaging controversy which was allowed to drag on for almost two weeks?
