Child hit by car at Bonython, in critical condition.

Having been to Bonython PS today, the ‘island’ referred to is barely enough for an adult to stand on between traffic let alone a child.

A designated CHILDREN’S crossing is needed on Hurtle Ave. Simple really.

I attended Bonython primary School and not once was there an accident on Hurtle Ave which I also grew up on as a child.
The Hoff is correct in saying there is 2 crossings, on Hurtle Ave there are 2 Traffic Islands, were a person can cross half way the road, stop then continue on.
Most mornings if a child is using this crossing ‘those speeding drivers’ will actually stop and let children cross
Oh Sammy your right, the child was hit crossing the road in-between the car park entry and the traffic island.
Again I will make my point, teach your kids about road safety and enforce the helmet law.

There is a traffic island that is also known as a designated crossing for all people not just school children

The Hoff, there is only 1 designated crossing and it is at the back of the school…NOT on Hurtle Ave.

There are two designated crossings at the school.

Looks like there is no pedestrian or school crossing at Bonython.

I don’t see any suggestion that the accident occurred in the vicinity of a pedestrian crossing.

You’ve got to wonder about a kid hit by a car outside a school on a pedestrian crossing. That is scary and rather upsetting.
